Don’t Give The Internet To The UN

Two weeks ago I attended a gathering of Silicon Valley senior executives.  The topic was the proposed transfer of responsibility for managing the internet from ICANN,  a US-based “not for profit” partially funded by the US government, to the UN’s “International Telecommunications Union” – currently chaired by a representative of the gov’t of Communist China.

The meeting had excellent speakers from the World Economic Forum, the Boston Consulting Group, and ICANN (its CEO spoke).

BOTTOM LINE = trasfer is a rotten idea and should not happen.  Bill Clinton agrees this should not happen and has made his view quite public.  I agree with him
